Practical roadmap

A preparation plan that fits the child—and the calendar.

The official syllabus defines the destination; it does not prescribe one timetable. This parent-friendly framework adapts preparation to the student’s class, foundations and months remaining.

By school class

Different starting points need different plans.

Class label alone does not determine readiness. Use school understanding, diagnostic evidence and the child’s available time together.

Class 8

Build, do not rush

Prioritise measurement, algebra used in science, graphs, basic mechanics, matter, cells and life processes. Add challenging questions gradually. The goal is a durable base, not an early mock-test obsession.

Class 9

Best consolidation year

Connect school chapters across all three sciences, add missing Class X ideas in sequence, and begin original papers after each major topic block. Maintain an error notebook from the first month.

Class 10

Check eligibility and bandwidth

Verify every official condition first. Coordinate NSEJS work with board preparation; use targeted revision and papers rather than attempting to consume several new books.

By time left

Choose the closest honest runway.

These are planning recommendations, not official schedules or score guarantees.

12 months or more: foundation cycle

Spend roughly half the cycle building concepts, then introduce mixed problems and original papers. Review monthly whether understanding—not merely chapter count—is improving.

6 months: focused coverage

Map the official syllabus, diagnose three subjects, close the largest gaps first and reserve the final eight weeks for mixed practice and timed sections.

3 months: prioritise evidence

Use original papers to identify recurring weak areas. Revise those concepts, practise representative problems and stop adding resources unless they solve a specific gap.

2 months: revision, timing and recovery

A two-month plan can improve an existing base but cannot safely manufacture years of foundation. Use timed practice, error correction and sleep protection; avoid claims that everyone can “crack” the exam in a fixed number of days.

Weekly rhythm

Simple enough to sustain.

Parents should help protect the routine, while students should own the actual work and error review.
