Is my child eligible for NSEJS 2026?

The checker uses the published 2026 student rules and examination information. All conditions must be satisfied.
Indian passport eligibility
The student must be eligible to hold an Indian passport. OCI and unusual nationality cases should be resolved against the current-year policy before enrolment.
Born in 2012 or 2013
The exact eligible birth window is 1 January 2012 through 31 December 2013, with both boundary dates included.
Class 8, 9 or 10
The published 2026 rules specify that the student must be studying in Class 8, 9 or 10 on 30 November 2026.
India schooling/residence
The student must have been residing and studying in India since 30 November 2024 or earlier, or studying in an Indian school system since that date.
No early Class 10 completion
The student must not have completed—or be scheduled to complete—the Class 10 board examination earlier than 30 November 2026.
No simultaneous senior NSE
An NSEJS 2026 student must not also appear for NSEA, NSEB, NSEC or NSEP 2026.
Common eligibility confusion.
The rules apply together. Meeting only the age or class requirement is not enough.
My child is in Class 8 but was born in 2014. Is the child eligible?
No under the published 2026 birth rule. The student must satisfy both the Class 8–10 condition and the date-of-birth window ending on 31 December 2013.
My child is in Class 10. Does that automatically make the child eligible?
No. Class 10 students must also satisfy the birth, passport, schooling/residence, board-examination timing and other-NSE conditions.
Does the student need to already own an Indian passport?
The published wording is “eligible to hold an Indian passport.” If nationality, OCI status or another circumstance makes that unclear, select “Not sure” and review the current-year policy.
Can the student appear in NSEJS and NSEP in the same year?
No. The 2026 Student Brochure says an NSEJS student must not appear in NSEA, NSEB, NSEC or NSEP 2026.
Is the result from this page a final approval?
