NSEJS, IOQM, school Olympiads or early entrance preparation?
“Which is harder?” is usually the wrong first question. Parents should compare purpose, subject fit, age-appropriate scope, selection pathway and the child’s present motivation.
Different examinations answer different questions.

Better questions than “which is hardest?”
Difficulty depends on the child’s strengths, the paper and the year. A label such as “harder than NEET” hides major differences in age, syllabus and purpose.
Science breadth or maths depth?
A student who loves all three sciences may find NSEJS meaningful. A student drawn strongly to proof and number patterns may prefer IOQM. Some can pursue both, but the 2026 eligibility rules restrict NSEJS candidates from appearing in the other science NSEs.
Competition or development?
Choose a path that improves understanding even if selection does not happen. If the entire value depends on a rank, the preparation plan is too fragile.
One path or several?
Simultaneous preparation is only sensible when foundations, sleep and school continuity remain stable. More examination forms do not automatically create more learning.

Let the child answer first. Parents can then test whether the plan matches the evidence.
Which problems does the child choose without prompting?
Science explanations, mathematical puzzles, experiments and reading habits reveal more than a promotional test.
What is the learning value without selection?
A strong path leaves better reasoning, notes and foundations even when the final rank is disappointing.
Can the weekly routine remain healthy?
Do not compare programmes without comparing the actual hours, travel, school load and sleep impact.
What evidence will trigger a change?
Set a review date and observable signals: error correction, concept retention, motivation and recovery—not only mock marks.
